Uplifting, Patient, Understanding, and God Sent My mentorship experience with Kunbi was positively life changing. During my first year of university I struggled with my courses and at one point was close to failing. My parents saw how distraught and unmotivated I was so they advised me to connect with Kunbi as they believed she could help me get on the right track and improve my attitude towards school. At first, I was hesitant and even skeptical, wondering what she could say or do to magically bring up my grades. I thank God today that my parents connected me to her. Having Kunbi as a mentor was one of the best decisions I ever made as she taught me about the power of prayer and putting all your faith in God; Through him the impossible would be made possible. Kunbi’s mentorship helped me to realize that the current major I was in was not for me; I was failing because I was not passionate about it. The mentorship taught me that it is okay to start over as long as you have a long term plan and are willing to work extremely hard. She sent me many motivational videos and songs on YouTube that preached the power of prayer, hard work, and being confident enough to seek help. Kunbi is not only a mentor but also a friend to me as she never once made me feel bad or below her but always worked to uplift and encourage me. Thanks to her influence in my life, today I can proudly say I am a University of Lethbridge graduate with a Bsc in Psychology. In addition to that I am also a young Nigerian woman who has a full-time job time with the Government of Alberta. All glory be to God.
